Considered the casual cousin of Helena Rizzo’s Mani, Manioca occupies the back of a bookstore inside Iguatemi Shopping with some of the Chef’s classic plates plus Salads, Sandwiches and Desserts executed by a team led by Bianca Monteiro. Popular since 2015, and recently eliminating a “no reservations” policy that had done little to diminish interest in a place often featuring long lines, it was only after asking an attendant in the multi-tiered mall that the Restaurant was discovered behind Livraria Cultura, its interior bright and spacious with plenty of organic flourishes. Open for Lunch and Dinner daily, a Sunday arrival at 12h00 soon finding every seat filled by a variety of ages, guests not fluent in Portuguese will be happy to know translated menus are offered though servers remain stiff, a situation no different from Rizzo’s Michelin starred space but more out of place in such casual environs. A Bib Gourmand recipient in its own right, though prices aren’t much different from Mani when compared dish for dish, it was opting to dine in three courses that a R$20 Couvert was accepted, the same Tapioca Chips previously experienced here just as good but with only two Cheeses as accoutrements. Deciding to order only classics in this setting, the dishes that established Rizzo’s name faithfully reproduced inside a sizable kitchen, course one featured a 63ᵒ Egg amidst foam made from Olive Oil and Hearts of Palm, another bit of modernist cooking arriving subsequently as “Noodles” of Vegetables topped with Parmesan Sauce and Herbs. Passing over Burgers and grilled Meats in favor of Dessert, “The Egg” presumably created via ISI canister and only interesting for crunchy bits of Coconut hidden beneath a sea of Foam, it was finally “The Secret of the Cake” which warranted applause, layers of Sponge and Brigadeiro Frosting alternating with beautiful textures and richness finding its foil in lightly sweetened Ice Cream.

Oh boy, this one is hard to describe, you have to taste it for yourself. Had the file mignon with potato, and it is so flavorful, juicy and well seasoned. The dessert is a special chapter: chocolate cake with powdered milk (Ninho) ice cream. Just out of this world!

Restaurante Manioca was a game changer for me, it was my first time visiting São Paulo, and from the moment I walked in I loved the leafy interior decoration and how cosy it all felt. The server was incredibly attentive, always watching over at my table, explaining the food in detail and giving his recommendations on what to try. After much deliberation I decided to try the azafrán rice with grilled octopus—it was perfection in plate, highly recommend it. I wish I could bring this restaurant back to my hometown. To put it simply, all the dishes were delicious and the staff an absolutely delight. Thank you.

One of the best restaurants in São Paulo. The appetizers are soooo good, in fact everything at this place it’s delicious. Tried all the appetizers and it’s hard to choose only one, the rosbife with potato chips and tortillas with tuna are great! The capellini it’s one of my favorite meals but the ravioli with goat cheese it’s also amazing. The steak meal it’s very flavorful too. Drinks are well made as well. The cake “segredo do bolo” it rock’s!!!! The ice cream that comes with the cake gives such a balance because it’s not too sweet. Amazing!!! Price it’s on the average of any other restaurants in Itaim Bibi. Definitely worthy!

A good dining experience you won’t regret. Variety of starters, drinks and desserts - all options are very tasteful and bring the influence of several Brazilian regional foods

We have visited Mani and decided to try Manioca out. Similar pricing (yes, expensive) but the service was rather disappointing. We speak very limited Portuguese and asked for someone who speaks English (as we saw the next table had a fluent-English-speaking waitress) but to our surprise our waitress said 'no, no one'. And proceeded to speak to us only in Portuguese. Food was tasty but and takes quite long to come (we asked for lime but it only arrived after we finished our food lol). An English speaking waiter was called to help only at the end of our meal. The cold service towards us was a big turn off given the price point and how they do not have procedure to help international guests was really disappointing. I suggest going to Mani if you want a much better experience.

Amazing place. Food is awesome, service is perfect (such amazing group of waiters and waitresses), dishes well prepared and serviced. It is a bit pricy but proved be worth of it. It became a must go place.

The restaurant has a very warm and cosy candlelit ambience, so I particularly recommend visiting at night. This is certainly in the higher end of mall restaurants. The service is very attentive and warm. The food was delicious and full of flavour. They serve a vegan moqueca which was very tasty and well seasoned. I highly recommend a visit.
