En 2011, el país recicló 511 mil toneladas de aluminio, la relación entre este volumen y el consumo doméstico de aluminio situándose por encima del promedio mundial que es del 35,2%, superior al promedio mundial de 28,3% (base 2010) En el reciclaje de latas de aluminio para bebidas, en 2011, el País recicló 248,7 mil toneladas de chatarra, lo que corresponde un 98,3% del total de envases consumidos en el 2011, índice que mantiene a Brasil en el liderazgo mundial desde el 2001. La expectativa es de crecimiento firme de esta actividad, ya que cada vez hay más productos fabricados con aluminio.
