This tour is for those who have courage and like more radical things. Biggest perrengue of life. The sea looks like a big thin blue LED lamp and is what illuminates the cave. (of course the guides carry flashlights to better illuminate the place) We were literally between two rocks, one above and one below. The
The route is on butt, you can't stand up. I had a panic attack in the cave. I do not advise people with a minimum of claustrophobia.

It's top, but if you have a “phobia” I don't advise, NOW, if you don't, be sure to take a tour leaving Abrão that has the Grotto in the script.
You'll have to go down some stairs and go "I'll go sit" or squat down to the main part.
What to do there? #see and hear
Tip for a top photo: ask another person in the group to light up the ceiling about 50 cm beside you and click on focoooo!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beleza rara.
Rare beauty. A "Big Island corner" that is worth the effort.
I don't recommend it for claustrophobic people. The light effect outside the cave makes a beautiful effect on the water seen from the inside.

The place is incredible, of a splendid beauty. In the language of the Caiçara Indians who lived and still live there, Achaia means blow, and the cave really blows. It is a unique experience to enter that cave that blows in the wind and flows into the sea, creating a fantastic light show.
Today, the cave has stairs to facilitate entry and the indigenous people are guiding and telling their story, as well as giving safety tips and lighting the way. They charge 25 reais per person. I recommend taking a snorkel or at least a pair of swimming goggles so you can also enjoy the underwater beauty that impresses even more.
The trail to get there starts in Araçatiba and is not difficult. You can also get there by boat, especially by taxi boat. You can also go by trail and return by boat taxi, there is always one available to take you back. Several tours around the island are sold with destination to Gruta do Acaia. I recommend getting there early to avoid queues.
PS: my photos are not the best because it was cloudy. On a sunny day it's even more beautiful

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Climb five meters down a hole and crawl though a space less than a meter tall and you enter this cave (Gruta). It's a huge space inside, but never tall enough to stand. At the other end, the ocean water enters and pools. Afterwards, go above the Gruta, jump off the rocks, and swim in the water above the cavern.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unique experience, but not for everyone. The way down is very very narrow, and completely dark. Good way to find out whether one is claustrophobic. But when you sit there and watch this emerald green glow with the wave sounds, makes it totally worth it.
Make sure you try the coconut from Dona Claudete on the way out (first house to the right). The tastiest coconut water I've ever had. And if you speak Portuguese, ask about the history of her family.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful natural attraction. Accessible by boat (on a calm day) or by trail. Make sure you go on a sunny day, preferably around noon, for best lighting in the cave. Entrance cost of R$25. Crawling through tight spaces required. Don't go if you're claustrophobic, obese or have mobility issues.
