A Barragem de Serro Azul foi construída com o intuito de conter as águas da enchente do Rio Una. Em consequência da última enchente em 2010 o Governo do Estado deu início a obra, para que as águas não causassem danos a Cidade de Palmares e aos ribeirinhos.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ATENÇÃO se você vai por essa PE saindo de Bonito com destino a Palmares, CUIDADO. Após a construção da Barragem Serro Azul, esta via encontra-se inundada conforme medição do maps são mais de 2 km pista que ficaram embaixo dessa profunda Barragem. E não existe sinalização alguma com aviso sobre este enorme perigo, Se for a noite não dá para visualizar que a pista vai continuar para dentro da barragem. Portanto atenção esta pista além de perigosa não é sinalizada.
ATTENTION if you go through this PE leaving Bonito bound for Palmares, BE CAREFUL. After the construction of the Serro Azul Dam, this road is flooded, as measured by the maps, there are more than 2 km of track left under this deep dam. And there are no signs warning about this huge danger. If it's nighttime you can't see that the track will continue into the dam. Therefore, this track, besides being dangerous, is not marked.

I had never seen a dam up close in my life, a giant engineering work, it is impressive and grand, I thought it was beautiful but it was scary. It is far from the urban area of Palmares in the Serro Azul District, beautiful place!!!
