Bem próximo dos manguezais, tambem, muita natureza, onde se junta a mata Atlântica com a mata de semiárido. Nessa barragem é onde se separa a água doce que desce no rio, vindo da Serra da Ibiapaba, e a água salgada que sobe do mar rio a dentro. A primeira barragem é a que forma o Açude Itaúna, com 75 milhões de metros cúbicos de capacidade de represamento. Em seguida é a barragem do.Distrito de Passagem, a outra é a barragem de Pereiras, e a última é a barragem de Caldeirão, na localidade de Tucuns.
