29 No dia seguinte, João viu Jesus aproximar-se dele e disse: “Eis o Cordeiro de Deus, que tira o pecado do mundo. 30 Dele é que eu disse: Depois de mim vem um homem que passou à minha frente, porque existia antes de mim. 31 Também eu não o conhecia, mas se eu vim batizar com água, foi para que ele fosse manifestado a Israel”.
32 E João deu testemunho, dizendo: “Eu vi o Espírito descer, como uma pomba do céu, e permanecer sobre ele. 33 Também eu não o conhecia, mas aquele que me enviou a batizar com água me disse: ‘Aquele sobre quem vires o Espírito descer e permanecer, este é quem batiza com o Espírito Santo’. 34 Eu vi e dou testemunho: Este é o Filho de Deus!”

29 The next day, John saw Jesus approaching him and said: “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. 30 From him I said: After me comes a man who has gone before me, because he existed before me. 31 I also did not know him, but if I came to baptize with water, it was that he might be revealed to Israel”.
32 And John bore witness, saying: “I saw the Spirit descend like a dove from heaven and remain upon him. 33 I also did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'He upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.' 34 I have seen and bear witness: This is the Son of God!”
