★ ★ ★ ★ ★ O local carrega consigo grande parte da história de Taubaté e quiçá do Brasil, ainda do período colonial. Construído em 1674, lamentavelmente destruído em sua quase totalidade e, reconstruído em 1842. Local de muitas peregrinações onde também estiveram várias vezes personagens ilustres em visitação, como Dom Pedro II e São Frei Galvão, canonizado em 2007, que se popularizou em Guaratinguetá, onde seus devotos se reúnem para pedir e agradecer às bençãos recebidas. A arquitetura interna e também externa, além do caráter religioso, fazem valer muito a visita. Hoje, 06/03/2020, estive pela primeira vez no local, em Procissão Penitencial Quaresmal em direção à Catedral, onde foi celebrada a missa. Ação esta que se repetirá até a sexta-feira da semana Santa, com saída sempre às 5h30 da manhã. Foi muito bom! Dica - há estacionamento gratuito no local, venha visitar, veja as fotos e vídeos...
The place carries with it a large part of the history of Taubaté and perhaps of Brazil, still from the colonial period. Sempre que passo em frente não me canso de observá-la, ainda mais sabendo que ali tem tanta história… Esta igreja foi fundada para abrigar religiosos em 1673, em 1843 um incêndio destruiu toda a igreja restando apenas o sino. Após um tempo abandonado, ela foi reformada e segue até hoje sob a mesma administração, dos frades. No ano de 1986, foi tombado como patrimônio estadual.
I think this church is beautiful, the architecture is charming!
Whenever I pass by, I never get tired of looking at it, even more knowing that it has so much history… This church was founded to house religious in 1673, in 1843 a fire destroyed the entire church, leaving only the bell. After being abandoned for a while, it was renovated and continues to this day under the same administration, by the friars. In 1986, it was listed as a state heritage site.
