★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Essa igreja é uma relíquia do período colonial brasileiro. É tombada pelo patrimônio histórico e de uma grande singeleza.
Começou a ser erigida em 1829 e acabou de passar por uma grande restauração, após ficar 10 anos fechada devido ao seu precário estado, com risco de queda do telhado além de outras sérias deteriorizações.
Importantíssimo ressaltar que esta restauração foi feita totalmente com recursos da própria comunidade, composta basicamente de pessoas simples. Não contou com um tostão sequer de recursos públicos, tampouco de apoio governamental.
This church is a relic of the Brazilian colonial period. It is listed by historical patrimony and a great simplicity.
It began to be erected in 1829 and has just undergone a major restoration, after 10 years closed due to its precarious state, with risk of falling of the roof besides other serious deteriorations.
It is extremely important to point out that this restoration was done entirely with the resources of the community itself, basically composed of simple people. It did not count with a penny of public resources, nor of governmental support.

A beautiful and peaceful place, when you pass the Rio-Santos highway and see the church, there is no way to go straight without paying a visit to this wonderful village.

I was unable to access the interior of the Church. The site announced mass on Saturdays and even though it was Christmas it opened and there was no celebration.

A Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário é uma belíssima igreja construída no século XVII, na época que a vila de Mambucaba era o responsável pelo escoamento de toda a riqueza do pais, vinda pela estrada real, minas Paraty que fica a aproximadamente 30 km
Hoje está sendo restaurada e NÃO está todos os dias aberta, devido a incidência de furtos de material sacro. Estacionamento grátis ao lado e a praia fica a uns 100 MTS.
Church of Our Lady of the Rosary
The Church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário is a beautiful church built in the 17th century, at the time that the village of Mambucaba was responsible for draining all the country's wealth, coming from the royal road, Paraty mines which is approximately 30 km away
Today it is being restored and is NOT open every day, due to the theft of sacred material. Free parking next door and the beach is about 100 MTS.
