A estação de Alegre foi inaugurada em 1912, como ponta do prolongamento do ramal, aberto entre Rive e Alegre. A estação anterior, terminal da linha entre 1887 e 1912, Rive, era também eventualmente chamada de Alegre, por ser a estação ferroviária mais próxima da cidade (cerca de 9 km)
A cidade somente teve iluminação elétrica instalada em 1920.
Trens de passageiros circularam por Alegre até o final dos anos 1960. A estação permaneceu abandonada por cerca de 20 anos, mas recentemente foi restaurada e hoje abriga o Departamento de Cultura e a Biblioteca Municipal.
Em 2006, teve de ser cercada, devido ao vandalismo. Fosse este um país sério, onde se reprimisse esses atos - afinal, tenho certeza de que em uma cidade como Alegre todos saibam quem são os autores - isto não seria necessário. Abriga também a sede o Instituto Histórico e Geográfico de Alegre.

The Alegre station was inaugurated in 1912, as the end of the extension of the branch, opened between Rive and Alegre. The previous station, terminus of the line between 1887 and 1912, Rive, was also eventually called Alegre, as it was the closest railway station to the city (about 9 km)
The city only had electric lighting installed in 1920.
Passenger trains ran through Alegre until the late 1960s. The station remained abandoned for about 20 years, but was recently restored and today houses the Department of Culture and the Municipal Library.
In 2006, it had to be fenced off due to vandalism. If this were a serious country, where these acts were repressed - after all, I'm sure that in a city like Alegre everyone knows who the perpetrators are - this would not be necessary. It also houses the Historical and Geographical Institute of Alegre.
