★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A Fundação Gilberto Freyre me surpreendeu positivamente. Tivemos uma visita guiada pela Fernanda que foi muito atenciosa, e se prontificou a responder todas as nossas perguntas. Local muito importante para a história de nosso Brasil, guardando os acervos na antiga casa de um dos maiores escritores do nosso país. Não é autorizado tirar fotos da parte interna do prédio. Visita mais que importante para quem vai a Recife.
The Gilberto Freyre Foundation positively surprised me. We had a guided tour by Fernanda who was very attentive, and was ready to answer all our questions. Very important place for the history of our Brazil, keeping the collections in the old house of one of the greatest writers of our country. It is not allowed to take pictures of the interior of the building. A visit that is more than important for anyone going to Recife.

Great tour and all are guided that help in the immersion of the freyriano world. It costs 10 reais and limited parking. On Saturday mornings the tour is themed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Um lugar bem afastado. Mas vale a pena a visita. Infelizmente não podemos tirar fotos do interior do local. A visita é guiada e cada canto da casa é apresentada como era a rotina no Gilberto. Os milhares de livros disponíveis é sem dúvida um tesouro a ser preservado.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ O museu é a casa do autor, um imóvel provavelmente secular que pertencia a um engenho. Tudo nele remete ao Brasil Colônia, mais precisamente a Pernambuco. É como uma viagem no tempo, você entra numa casa grande de usina/engenho, com todos os móveis, porcelanas, utensílios, arquitetura etc. Infelizmente a visitação é em grupo e com guia, ou seja, esqueça uma experiência contemplativa e bucólica, como o lugar pede. A guia passa 60 minutos falando todo tipo de inutilidade sem parar pra respirar, se você se afastar 2 cm dele, já leva uma advertência pois é terminantemente proibido ir pra qualquer cômodo onde ela não estiver. As portas são trancadas com grades e os visitantes dentro, bolsas são retiradas antes da entrada, há câmeras por toda parte, fica uma sensação de perigo eminente, de vigília e proibições de toda sorte, não pode fotografar, nao pode tocar,, não pode entrar ou sair sem autorização. Recomendo o local mas não a visita, nem na casa de detenção do estado, atual Casa da Cultura, o trânsito dos visitantes é tão cerceado.

It's like a trip back in time, you enter a big factory/mill house, with all the furniture, porcelain, utensils, architecture, etc. Unfortunately, the visit is in a group and with a guide, that is, forget about a contemplative and bucolic experience, as the place demands. The guide spends 60 minutes talking about all kinds of uselessness without stopping to breathe, if you move 2 cm away from him, you already have a warning because it is strictly forbidden to go to any room where she is not. The doors are locked with bars and visitors are inside, bags are removed before entering, there are cameras everywhere, there is a feeling of imminent danger, of vigil and prohibitions of all kinds, you cannot photograph, you cannot touch,, you cannot enter or leave without authorization. I recommend the place but not the visit, not even in the state detention house, currently Casa da Cultura, the traffic of visitors is so restricted.
