★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This bookstore is a treasure. It’s perhaps the nearest equivalent to the Barnes & Noble at Union Square in New York (but most of the books are in Portuguese). Ample collection of books by Brazilian writers and works in translation from around the world. Very happy to see several books by Colson Whitehead available in translation. (Note to Junot Diaz: it isn’t all Paul Auster.)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I really adore this bookstore and in my opinion, it is one of the nicest in Sampa. Tucked away inside a larger shopping area, I consider it sort of a hidden gem. Walking in makes me think of the library scene in "Beauty and the Beast." The selection of books is considerable, with a particularly nice children's section. I also really enjoy the art section, which feels like another shop in and of itself, since it's tucked away in the upper floor behind glass. There's a cute cafe located on the ground floor where you can get a variety of snacks. Of course there are plenty of Portuguese language books, but there is also a good selection of English titles as well. The store is ALWAYS busy when I visit it, but the staff are charming and helpful. Be sure to sign up for the rewards program! I guarantee if you spend a significant amount of time in São Paulo, you're going to want to come here more than once. This has become my go-to shop for all things literary!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a book shop! They have nearly every book you might be looking for, in many different languages. If you like books, you could very well spend a whole day there. And whenever you feel like, have a cup of espresso coffe. Free wifi provided.
Worth a visit for sure!
