★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fundado em 15 de agosto de 1893, com o nome de Orphelinato Paraense por Lauro Sodré, com o objetivo de amparar e educar meninas órfãs. Essa instituição era mantida por sócios e doações. No entanto, em 1902, passou para o âmbito municipal, com a ajuda de Antônio Lemos, Intendente Municipal de Belém. Quatro anos mais tarde, o Intendente institui a lei 433 de 15 de março de 1906, a qual autorizou uma reforma no prédio do estabelecimento e mudou o seu nome para Orfanato Antônio Lemos. No Orphelinato ensinava-se as primeiras letras, literatura, prendas, economia doméstica, canto coral, piano, ginástica, dentre outros.
Hoje conhecido como Colégio Antônio Lemos tem a mesma arquitetura do Colégio Gentil Bittencourt.
Founded on August 15, 1893, named after Orphelinato Paraense by Lauro Sodré, with the aim of supporting and educating orphan girls. This institution was maintained by members and donations. However, in 1902, it passed to the municipal level, with the help of Antônio Lemos, Intendant of Belém. Four years later, the Intendant instituted Law 433 of March 15, 1906, which authorized a renovation of the establishment and changed its name to Antonio Lemos Orphanage. Orphelinato taught the first letters, literature, gifts, home economics, choral singing, piano, gymnastics, among others.
Today known as Colégio Antônio Lemos has the same architecture as Colégio Gentil Bittencourt.
