Ao visitá-lo, você mergulha no passado e na história de Alcântara Maranhão, fazendo uma viagem que se inicia a mais de duzentos anos atrás, nesta que é considerada uma das mais coloniais cidades do Brasil. Localizado no centro histórico da cidade, ao lado do Largo de São Matias, é um passeio obrigatório a todos que visitam Alcântara.
 Fantastic, simply one of the best museums in the country. When you visit it, you immerse yourself in the past and in the history of Alcântara Maranhão, making a journey that begins more than two hundred years ago, in what is considered one of the most colonial cities in Brazil. Located in the historic center of the city, next to Largo de São Matias, it is a mandatory tour for everyone who visits Alcântara.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lindo lugar, muito histórico, o Ideal é pegar um guia local que irá contar toda história do local., Para chegar é só pegar um barco que sai de São Luiz em frente o palácio do governo, a viagem é turbulenta, tomar um dramin pra quem tem enjôo é uma boa, em Alcântara tem restaurantes e pousadas com preço acessível, vale muito a pena, é um passeio histórico .

Fui acompanhado pela monitora Develine, super atenciosa, com uma boa oratória e conhecedora do assunto que apresentava, além de ser moradora local e está inserida na realidade que apresenta a seus visitantes. É um lugar, que sem dúvidas, vale muito a pena se conhecer em uma viagem a Alcântara.
