Inicialmente, era uma pequena capela ocupando o terreno que, mais tarde, viria a ser a praça.
Após o novo prédio ter sido erguido, a igreja tornou-se uma referência para o Tatuapé
Além de sua tradicional festa junina, a paróquia também promove eventos religiosos em datas comemorativas. Ainda na Silvio Romero é possível visitar a feira de artesanato, organizada pela Prefeitura.
