★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great restaurants directly by Escadaria Selarón, very reasonable prices and friendly staff with prompt service. They do understand languages other than Portuguese for example a little English and Spanish unlike other places in Brazil. Great food! They even have promotions that are clearly advertised and offer a variety of options to satisfy any taste bud. Overall a nice place to enjoy lovely local food and an ice cold beer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Warning: It is not suitable for eating just drinking. Hygiene standards are very poor! Food was awful and over priced. I only noticed the state of the kitchen after using filthy toilet. Unfortunately it was too late, I ordered food - "picanha" which was awful. However for drinking beer is very good, good range, excellent temperature, efficient customer services.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We came to here only after the tiredness of climbing the stairs and the urge to gossip about some big black American girls after they posed some impressive but ridiculous “super high fashion model” moves.
Pastel is freshly deep fried, crunching and salty; Cachaça was strong as wished, so five stars no complaints.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ With the buzz of a random band playing music and singing and the crowds checking out the mosaics, I sat with a light meal and a beer and watched the world go by feeling grateful I can travel.
Located conveniently at the bottom of the escadaria wheee there is much action, I was mixing with locals, internationals and a mixture of tourists and musicians. What an afternoon.
I ate a simple lunch and a local beer. Prices were reasonable.
Other diners saw me alone and ended up joining their table and playing with the kids (I’m a teacher).
Food good. Beer cold. Staff great.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Parking dreadful.
Check out the artwork nearby. Well worth it.

I would not say it’s amazing but it’s good! I came for lunch with a couple of people. We got the stroganoff de filet mignon and the feijoda.
Wasn’t too impressed with the feijoada but the stroganoff was definitely something that made me go wow. But overall, nothing that special.
The owner himself and the staff are incredibly helpful. I like that they are bubbly and personable.
Prices are normal.
Next to the Selaron so it could be both a good thing and a bad things depending on how busy the stairs gets

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ These people are liars. They claim their dishes feed two, but it’s more like three.
The restaurant is right by the escadarias Selaron, a very famous and busy tourist place. So it’s only natural that you eat here if you’re visiting the escadarias around lunch time.
Their menu has 1-person (they say feeds two) and two-person (they say feeds four) dishes. In my experience, the one person dishes can even feed three if the people aren’t super hungry. I usually eat a lot, and had trouble finishing my beef parmigiana. Didn’t make it all the way. Girlfriend also could not finish her beef Milanese (which she called Brazilian schnitzel ?). The food is simple but tasty, and the prices are quite ok compared to the other stuff in Rio, especially in Copacabana and Ipanema.
The staff is friendly, beer is cheap and cold, and the food is plentiful. No complaints from my side!
