I went in the spring at the beginning of November where in my central west region of Minas it is very hot , arriving there it was very cold .. about 6 degrees at dawn , so it 's best to prepare , for those who have been to Serra da Canastra / Serra do Espinhaço and others , I recommend getting to know Serra do Papagaio .

We took the route from Itamonte to Alagoa. There are patches of paved and many others of earth. The landscape is beautiful. Located in Serra da Mantiqueira, it has mixed formations of fields, forests and enclave areas with araucaria forests. In the conservation unit, the headwaters of the main rivers forming the Rio Grande basin, responsible for supplying large urban centers in the south of Minas, are concentrated. It houses the largest and most important hydrographic basins in the Southeast. At an altitude of 1,800 meters, the crossing covers the western portion of the Serra da Mantiqueira, in the heart of the Minas Gerais mountains. There are approximately 1,200 water sources, some of them at an altitude of 2,360 meters, 240 waterfalls and 28 canyons. All this biodiversity, still little known, hides incalculable beauties such as the Cavalo Baio canyon, with 1,050 meters, the largest Araucaria reserve in Minas Gerais, the connection between the Atlantic Forest Ecological Corridor and the Itatiaia National Park, among many others.
