O Departamento Nacional de Estradas de Rodagem (DNER), agora Departamento Nacional de Infraestrutura de Transportes (DNIT) estruturou ao lado leste da serra local residência para os engenheiros da obra, e uma pedreira para a retirada de brita, que serviria para os alicerces da estrada.(wikipédia)
Foi desativada no início dos anos 90 e que faz parte da história, por ser a primeira Pedreira de Itaitinga em que foram extraídas as pedras para a construção da BR-116.
Também foi por causa dessa empresa que começou o desenvolvimento econômico do Município de Itaitinga.
