No início da década de 30, no bairro da Bela Vista, em São Paulo, entre bondes e palacetes, uma confeitaria chamada Nova Independência já se destacava oferecendo produtos diferenciados e pizzas em pedaço. Muitos anos se passaram, a paisagem urbana no entorno foi se transformando, prédios foram surgindo no lugar dos belos casarões, os charmosos bondes foram substituídos por ônibus e metrô, a rua transformou-se em uma das avenidas mais importantes do centro da cidade e a confeitaria virou Pizzaria Moraes, motivada pela já consagrada fama de suas pizzas.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Avoid! Normally pizza is quite hard to get wrong but in Moraes this evening they managed that.
Very slow service, they also use a system for keeping the pizza warm in the middle, but you find your self walking up to get the rest of your pizza. My other half got the wrong pizza and the bill when it came was also wrong.
The pizza at best was mediocre, i think there is better to be had even in some kilogramme restaurants. All in all not a great experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very old fashioned pizzeria with a feeling of the orient express. It was very quiet when we popped in for a bite. The pizza was served slice by slice which for me is a bit odd but okay. The waiters were friendly and attentive. Most importantly, the pizza was excellent and delicious (I had parma ham, black calamata olives, capers and catupiry cheese on my pizza. The capers are a brilliant contrast against the salty ham and olives). Really enjoyed it in its simplicity.
