★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The port of Cabedelo is the only port in the Brazilian state of Paraiba. It’s a small port that handles mostly grain (if you need to ship something by container, this isn’t the port for you); there’s also a ferry terminal for ferryboats that cross the Paraiba River between the city of Cabedelo and Lucena. It also sits in front of Kilometer 0 of the Trans-Amazonian Highway (the BR-230), which is 4000 kilometers (2400 miles) long, making it the 3rd longest highway in Brazil. The ruins of the Fort Santa Catarina (constructed in 1586) is also nearby.
I use this port because of the ferry. It’s a picturesque location, because across from the port, there is a deserted island with white sand beaches. You can even see porpoises or rays swimming in the channel every now and then.
