★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hugo was an amazing tour guide for hiking!! He was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and was responsible in all the transportation in the coordination of the hangliding. He also shared his snacks and carried some of our water which was very sweet of him. He speaks English really well, and we felt safe the whole time. He was one of the best guides we had in Brazil! Would definitely recommend him.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've been going to Rio for over 15 years now and have always had the desire to jump off the ramp at Pedra da Gavea. In fact my inlaws drove me up there 2x and I would watch as both paragliders and hang gliders would jump off the ramp, high above the thick forest of São Conrado.
So I finally bit the bullet and ordered my wide through Rio Natural. The reservation process was quick and easy and Daniel was available on Whatsapp to answer my questions (great customer service points there) I was dropped off at the bustling landing spot at the end of São Conrado, where I met with my "instructor" Guto...very friendly yet professional and made me feel 100% at ease with the experience. I took an SUV up to the launch pad, up the winding steep road that snakes up to the top of the mountain.
Once at the ramp, our glider was ready to go and so was Guto, there was very little wait time. He calmly briefed me prior to takeoff, as well as the landing and we did a couple of simulated runs until he was confident I was ready.
The flight itself - there's just no describing it. There's hundreds of videos capturing the experience on youtube but until you hop off that ramp and feel the brief free-fall as the wind catches your wings, you simply haven't lived. Guto steered our glider to a small hill to the left to get some updraft. The view as you cross over the hill and see Rocinha on the other side is simply divine. Guto also allowed me to fly the ship and make some turns, just to get a better taste of the experience. All in all our flight lasted about 12m (not much in updrafts that day i guess)
Once on ground we sat at a cluster of monitors where I could review pics and videos of my flight - there are 2 GoPros setup and you can choose which one you want to download (I ordered both angles!) While sitting at the "multimedia" station, I had a chance to meet the legendary "Mosquito", a long-time hang glider veteran from way back.
I hope to do this again - the day was perfect for flying, and Rio Natural made the experience even more unforgettable!
