Muita ostentação para época...
Conhecida como "Igreja de Ouro", com o interior recoberto de folhas de ouro puro, a Igreja de São Francisco é considerada o mais belo exemplar do barroco português nas Américas. A lenda versa que seus construtores utilizaram mil quilos de ouro em pó.
