A Igreja tinha como padroeira a Imaculada Conceição, mas em 1974 o padroeiro passa a ser São Francisco de Assis. Uma Igreja foi construída na rua São Francisco, mas por causa do crescimento da festa do santo e da comunidade, foi nescesario a construção de um novo templo. Localizada na rua Frei José com magnífica arquitetura modena a Igreja Santuário São Francisco de Assis, foi planejada por um arquiteto alemã, nome desconhecido. A Igreja possuí a maior festa religiosa do município.
The Catholic community was in Lago dos Rodrigues started by the founder Gonçalo Rodrigues in 1918. The Church was patronized by the Immaculate Conception, but in 1974 the patron saint becomes St. Francis of Assisi. A church was built on St. Francis Street, but because of the growth of the feast of the saint and the community, it was necessary to build a new temple. Located on Frei José Street with magnificent modern architecture, the Sanctuary of St. Francis of Assisi Church was designed by a German architect, an unknown name. The Church has the largest religious festival in the city.
