★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The problem is not the slow service, since it's actually on the average pace for Rio's standards. The problem is the rotten goods on the shelfs. Don't get me wrong, mistakes happen everywhere, but that can't just include green meet and fish that had been frozen thawed several times. The good thing is that the rotten food can't pass unnoticed. Also you can't tell if the back entrance is for trash or goods as everything seems to happen at the same time. About the buffet, let's see, if you want overpriced dry bread, over fried eggs and really weird scrambled eggs, it's the place to go. Finally (well, not really, but it's the time I have now), on sunny days, and despite there is a sign for people to wear shirts inside of the supermarket, there is an half-naked mob invading it for buying beer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Convenient mini supermarket- cost of shopping was about the same as back in the UK but a lot of what we bought was processed imported stuff which attracts the most cost. We were staying at a lovely hotel nearby but with three kids who like to graze throughout the day, purchasing a variety of snack options from this supermarket, helped to lessen the dent of a surprise room service bill at the end of pur stay. Lovely selection of everything available, some delicious hot baked goods and fresh produce. Seems to cater for all in terms of milk..found the full range of options; cow/nut/goat and organic which was good to see. Overall, a well stocked very useful place to be nearby.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Zona Sul (South Zone) is a chain of supermarkets in Rio. If you are in Rio (Copacabana, Leblon, Ipanema, Barra…) you'll find yourself here on quite a few occasions. It's easily the best supermarket in Rio for sourcing deli treats and imported goodies. And, it's far from being the cheapest (same of even more expensive than a London supermarket) in town, but queues are shorter than elsewhere and quality is high.
