★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Trilha sensacional dentro do parque nacional da Tijuca. Fui na caminhada desde a portaria do parque até o cume, fiz a trilha sozinho e demorei em torno de 2h20min para subir e 2h00min para descer (com parada na cachoeira das almas). Na subida vale a pena também ir até o Tijuca mirim, fica na mesma trilha, com um desvio de apenas 200 metros. Não é cobrado valor nem para acesso ao parque nem para a trilha. Leve lanche de trilha e água, no parque não existe comércio desses itens.
 Sensational trail inside the Tijuca National Park. I went on the walk from the entrance of the park to the summit, I did the trail alone and it took me around 2h20min to go up and 2h00min to go down (with a stop at the waterfall of souls). On the way up, it is also worth going to Tijuca Mirim, it is on the same trail, with a detour of only 200 meters. There is no charge for access to the park or the trail. Take a trail snack and water, in the park there is no trade for these items.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Essa trilha pode ser acessada através da Praça Afonso Viseu no Alto da Boa Vista setor A do Parque Nacional da Tijuca. A trilha se inicia a partir do Largo do Bom retiro e tem cerca de 3km só ida. Antes de chegar ao cume aconselho fazer um desvio pequeno e rápido para o Tijuca Mirim que tem uma vista linda! O ponto de maior dificuldade fica na famosa escadaria do pico da Tijuca, uma escada com 117 degraus, talhados na rocha, que segundo os historiadores, ela foi feita em homenagem ao Rei da Bélgica, Alberto I, um montanhista que iria visitar o Brasil, o então Presidente da República Epitácio Pessoa mandou talhar a escadaria, para receber o Rei Montanhista em 1920. Quem já é experiente e tem bom condicionamento físico tira de letra o desafio da escadaria.

This trail can be accessed through Praça Afonso Viseu in Alto da Boa Vista sector A of the Tijuca National Park. The trail starts from Largo do Bom Retiro and is about 3km one way. Before reaching the summit, I advise you to make a small and quick detour to Tijuca Mirim, which has a beautiful view! The most difficult point is the famous staircase of Pico da Tijuca, a staircase with 117 steps, carved in the rock, which according to historians, was made in honor of the King of Belgium, Alberto I, a mountaineer who would visit Brazil, the then President of the Republic Epitácio Pessoa had the staircase carved to welcome the Mountaineer King in 1920. Those who are already experienced and in good physical condition take the challenge of the staircase literally.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the nicest walks in Rio or anywhere in the world. An absolute treat for any nature and exercise minded lover. A most pleasent trek amidst exotic gentle jungle with well kept and safe tracks plus beautifully 117 sculpted steps all the way up. Highly recommended for anybody or any level of fitness and greatly rewarded with the most magnificent 360 degree views of Rio and beyond that only a helicopter can afford. Not to be missed!
