Uma curiosidade é que a família que duou o terreno para a construção do MASP, exigiu que fosse deixado um espaço para ter a vista do túnel da 9 de julho. Hoje, além do Mirante 9 de julho, esse espaço ficou conhecido como Vão do MASP e é ocupado por fortes expressões culturais, manifestações sociais, um verdadeiro espaço cultural e de muita importância da cidade. É um local que, aos domingos, acontecia os chamados "rolezinhos", encontros de centenas de jovens, geralmente com intuito de fazer amizades e ouvir funk. O problema é que o local divide espaço com moradores de rua que ocuparam parcialmente o espaço e, durante os rolezinhos, acontecia furtos e roubos. Por isso, muita atenção ao andar com celular à vista.
A presença da Polícia Militar era quase inexistente e, quando havia presença das forças policiais, acabava em confusão, correria e bombas de gás.
