★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The waitor was nice but got our order wrong and the place looks like a run down sports bar.
We ordered a pepperoni pizza with no onion (on the menu it comes with onion) and a portugese pizza. It tasted like it was microwaved and the onions we're not even cooked, just chucked on.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ok, great location, nice people, nice food and drinks. But be advised that an additional fee will be added to your bill when live music is performed. Its not made very clear and if you object you don't pay, but i was surprised. Else another star for sure (and the music was really nice). Appreciated the swift response from the owner (that might of might not be here when You read this) on my former review (harsh).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed at Ipanema Inn for two nights and upon getting in just walked around the neighborhood looking for a semi-nice place to eat with a bit of vibe. Stumbled upon Barthodomeu first since it's just across the street from the hotel but thought I'd walk some more. But after walking for quite some time still thought Barthodomeu was the best.
It didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was very lively, with a live guitar player. Ordered local Brazilian Wine was tasty and everything was very reasonably priced. Service was very efficient too. Went to a better rated restaurant the next evening in the neighborhood, it was more expensive, food not as tasty and atmosphere not as fun. So recommend this restaurant for some casual dining at very reasonable prices for Rio.
It’s popular with locals and visitors. The menu is great. They cook wonderful meat and have a good range of Brazilian staples. Drinks range is solid.
There is nothing pretentious here.just good food, good service and a great ambiance. The places is not for those after a Michelin starred fine dining experience. But if you are after some great people watching, excellent food and no fuss then this is for you. Plenty of seating inside and out.
