Características
Existem dois tipos principais de solo: latossolo e sedimentar. O primeiro, oriundo do período cretáceo, é rico em fósseis. Uma equipe do Museu Nacional da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro já pesquisou o sítio paleontológico e descobriu diversas espécies de dinossauros, tais como Santanaraptor placidus, Angaturama limai, Irritator e Mirischia asymmetrica. Já a bacia sedimentar se caracteriza por formar aquíferos, existindo várias fontes de água espalhadas por toda a área da chapada.
A fauna local é composta por diversas espécies de répteis, insetos e mamíferos. Já foram catalogadas 290 espécies de aves presentes no livro.[5] Destaca-se o soldadinho-do-araripe, ave que corre risco de extinção e que é encontrada somente na região da floresta do Araripe.
A vegetação predominante é de cerradão. Existem faixas de transição que apresentam traços de mata atlântica, cerrado e caatinga.
Chapada do Araripe is a geographical accident and paleontological site located on the border of the states of Ceará, Pernambuco and Piauí, in Brazil. The plateau houses a national forest (1946), an environmental protection area (1997) and a geopark (2006).
Characteristics
There are two main types of soil: latosol and sedimentary. The first, from the Cretaceous period, is rich in fossils. A team from the National Museum of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro has already researched the paleontological site and discovered several species of dinosaurs, such as Santanaraptor placidus, Angaturama limai, Irritator and Mirischia asymmetrica. The sedimentary basin is characterized by forming aquifers, with several sources of water scattered throughout the plateau area.
The local fauna is composed of several species of reptiles, insects and mammals. 290 species of birds in the book have already been cataloged. [5] The Araripe Soldier stands out, a bird that is at risk of extinction and is found only in the Araripe forest region.
The predominant vegetation is cerradão. There are transition strips that show traces of Atlantic forest, cerrado and caatinga.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Trilhas excelentes, com paisagens fantásticas da região do Crato. Bem sinalizada e muito frequentada. Possui trechos bem tortuosos, mas que colaboram para a adrenalina da trilha. A maioria do trajeto é de fácil acesso. Atenção: Pessoas com algum tipo de deficiência podem ter muita dificuldade.
Excellent trails, with fantastic landscapes of the Crato region. Well signposted and very popular. It has very tortuous stretches, but that contribute to the adrenaline of the trail. Most of the route is easily accessible. Attention: People with some type of disability can have a lot of difficulty.
