O prédio é tombado pelo IPHAN e está cercado por outros atrativos turísticos como os palácios Lauro Sobre e Antônio Lemos, a Catedral da Sé, o Forte e o Museu de Arte Sacra. No mesmo quarteirão, praticamente atrás do Solar, há um restaurante com ambiente agradável e deliciosas comidas a quilo.
