Good city to visit with very cold weather for Bahia

City very welcoming kind staff. Moved because of the ore. It leaves something to be desired on the sidewalks, banks and lodging, but it is worth visiting

Located almost 600 km from Salvador, Piatã is the coldest city in Bahia, standing out as the largest coffee producer in the state. There are several good brands, many coming from family farming in the region. What perhaps assures you of such coolness, in addition to being located at an altitude of almost 1,300 meters, is the fact that the city has expanded between two mountains, as you can see from the photos, more precisely at the foot of the Serra de Santana. From this mountain, it is possible to reach the top by a well-defined trail, but which obviously requires breathing. On the way, the Chapel dedicated to Senhor do Bonfim and many, many endemic flowers of Chapada Diamantina (see photos). From the square of this chapel, the sunset is unique. The trade is varied and nothing is owed to the trade in the capital, with the city's fair standing out, which always starts on Friday afternoons and continues until Saturday morning. Divided into two warehouses, one of which is reserved for organic products; the other to non-organic products, but all produced by local farmers. The city preserves some emblematic, beautiful and ancient trees among its streets, as you can see in the photos. Unfortunately, this is the same city where, at least in one of its streets (on the street where we have the Cooperative of Coffee Producers - CoPiatã), trees are suffocated by concrete and an aluminum ring. Horrible. The city still preserves beautiful houses, which, however, are already being detonated due to the incorporation of modern elements. In part of the city that has recently been subdivision, houses have been built and built that look more like real coffins, of which the worst feature is the lack of preservation of backyards. Neither inside nor outside flowerbeds. Another feature of these houses is leaving the water tanks on display. What is worse is that this occurs in the area further down the Serra de Santana. From the top of this mountain range, it can even be seen that the city and its surroundings look more like a plucked plain. The most famous waterfalls are Cochó and Patrício, 50km and 30km away, respectively, from the city center. Today, hosting a mining company, Piatã is expected to survive the speculations of the present day, as in the past it survived those who sought gold in its lands.

I lived 6 months in Piata, to work with ore. The city is a great place to live, peace and the very low rate of violence already leave the place attractive. Nature is exuberant, as the Chapada Diamantina is a mountainous region full of natural beauty. The local people are well educated, receptive and warm. The municipal government provides a good local service, the hospital, for example, always have doctor. The old buildings and well preserved in the center are encatadoras. The headquarters of Piata is the highest city in the entire Northeast, with 1280m of altitude, Sierra Santana side, east of the city, reaches 1600m, have easy access to trail there with panoramic city views. Temperatures drop much in winter (late May to July), the temperature to reach the incredible below 10 degrees Celsius in the summer on some days can reach a maximum of 32, nothing more than that. It is worth knowing, it is a place that always will be missed.
