"Com a proposta de ser um lugar de liberdade da palavra, leitura pública e compartilhamento de ideias, Plebeu Gabinete de Leitura é formado pelo acervo que veio da coleção particular da historiadora e professora da Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC), Adelaide Gonçalves.
Inaugurada em 1 de maio de 2012, o local foi idealizado como um espaço aberto aos trabalhadores do Centro da cidade ou que passam por ali no dia-a-dia de trabalho.
O objetivo da biblioteca é fazer com que os trabalhadores, pesquisadores e militantes possam ter acesso a livros, jornais, revistas, com assuntos relacionados a temas, como, reforma agrária, movimento sindical, história do Ceará, memória de Fortaleza, imprensa operária, clássicos literários e filosóficos, entre outros."
Social library embedded in the center of Fortaleza. Very good and diverse collection. It's worth the visit.
"With the purpose of being a place of freedom of the word, public reading and sharing of ideas, Plebeu Reading Office is formed by the collection that came from the private collection of the historian and professor at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), Adelaide Gonçalves.
Inaugurated on May 1, 2012, the place was idealized as a space open to the workers of the City Center or who pass by in their daily work.
The purpose of the library is to enable workers, researchers and activists to have access to books, newspapers, magazines, with subjects related to topics such as land reform, trade union movement, Ceará history, Fortaleza memory, working class press, classics literary and philosophical, among others. "
