★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A importância da Rua Siqueira Mendes para a cidade de Belém do Pará é em função de que este logradouro é a primeira rua aberta na antiga villa, pelos colonizadores portugueses. Seu início é no bairro mais antigo da cidade o Cidade Velha, atravessando outros bairros, como o Ponta Grossa e o Cruzeiro.
Os colonizadores chamaram a via de Rua Norte e a atual denominação é uma homenagem ao ex-presidente da província, o sacerdote Manuel José de Siqueira Mendes.
The importance of Rua Siqueira Mendes to the city of Belém do Pará is due to the fact that this street is the first street opened in the old town by the Portuguese settlers. Its beginning is in the oldest quarter of the city the Old City, crossing other neighborhoods, such as Ponta Grossa and Cruzeiro.
The settlers called the street North Street and the current denomination is a tribute to the former president of the province, the priest Manuel José de Siqueira Mendes.
