★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very famous sandwich place in the Mercado Municipal of SP. Order the mortadella sandwich and a pastel but be careful it’s huge! Go upstairs they have more seats.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best mortadella sandwich in São Paulo. We always get the “baby” though because it’s just too big! I love their bolinho de bacalhau too and their pastéis are full of filling. Their hot sauce is also very nice but dangerous!

Having over the past +20 years been a fervent recommender of the Central Market and periodic client or this establishment’s pastel de bacalhau...I went for a cod cake today, after hiatus of a few years; the codfish cake was a potato cake with a bit of salted fish ... and quite expensive at BRL28 each !! Disappointed with the first bite, wherein I realized that the heritage of the Mercadão as a place to have a great bite to eat has changed to one of ... tourist trap.
Que falta de vergonha chamar isso um bolinho de bacalhau !!
Still...very much recommend visiting the Central market!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ São Paulo's classic! But it's too much salami ('Mortadela' there). You can order it with less - It will not be heresy - chill out.
There's a brown/yellow spicy mustard sauce. For me not good - but taste it.
If you're not alone. I suggest one order the sandwich (Mercadao) and other one take a 'Pastel'. You have 2 excellent options to taste this two Brazilian classics.
The sandwich at itself is good. Order with beer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ve been to the place a few times! It is always crowded but worth wait to be seated! I always have the same Shrimp Pastel! It is simply the best! I tried already a bite of Mortadela sandwich and it is also very good! Service could be improved a little, but is such a smal issue compare to the pleasure you will have with the food!

I ate several varieties of "Pastel" (cod, shrimp and cheese, and jerky beef and cheese) and something called "bolinho de bacalhau" (like a deep fried cod pastry), and everything was superb! This place really offers an unforgettable taste experience, and it is a place I will come back when I visit Sao Paulo again.
