Após o aterro das ilhas do Fundão e outras na Baía de Guanabara, a ilha começou a receber as obras do então Hospital de Clínicas, posteriormente chamado de Hospital Universitário Clementino Fraga Filho, da UFRJ. A construção durou anos e apenas uma parte do prédio foi inteiramente ocupada. A outra, apenas em esqueleto, foi demolida alguns anos atrás.
Fundão Hospital - 1961
After the landfill of the Fundão islands and others in the Guanabara Bay, the island began to receive the works of the then Hospital de Clinicas, later called the University Hospital Clementino Fraga Filho, of UFRJ. Construction took years and only a part of the building was fully occupied. The other, only a skeleton, was demolished a few years ago.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ O atendimento médico e bom mas o hospital esta velho e sucateados os elevadores estão péssimos a vários andares precisando de reforma e não tem ar condicionado!
The medical care is good but the hospital is old and scrapped, the elevators are terrible on several floors in need of renovation and there is no air conditioning!
