★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Para quem gosta de percorrer ruínas e imaginar como elas foram habitadas, usadas e como os habitantes do local vivenciaram um lugar, as ruínas deste local é uma boa oportunidade. Aos amantes da fotografia, sugiro uma passada por aqui, pela beleza do lugar e os possíveis “closes” da natureza e das ruínas do lugar, vale a pena.
For those who like to walk through ruins and imagine how they were inhabited, used and how the locals experienced a place, the ruins of this place is a good opportunity. For lovers of photography, I suggest a stroll here, for the beauty of the place and the possible "closes" of the nature and the ruins of the place, it's worth it.

Este local é conhecido como Machu Picchu da Bahia. Não ser porque fizeram essa associação, pois já estive em MachuPicchu (Peru) e não vi semelhança alguma. Tratam-se de ruínas de construções de pedra ocupadas no passado por garimpeiros. De fato é interessante andar (em descida constante num terreno em declive) pelas ruínas e imaginar como era aquilo no passado. A paisagem no entorno é belíssima. Tem uma pequena parte cuja visitação é paga (R$5,00 a taxa por pessoa), que parece estar mais conservado e tem uns utensílios antigos. Acho que vale a pena visitar, mas sem muita expectativa; eu fui com muita expectativa por ter ouvido falar que era a Machu Picchu baiana e, de certa forma, frustei-me por esperar mais. Exige bom condicionamento físico. Quem não estiver com muita disposição, pode caminhar só pelo início que já dá para ter uma ideia do que é. Mais para baixo as ruínas são muito parecidas.

This place is known as Machu Picchu of Bahia. Not because they made this association, since I was in MachuPicchu (Peru) and I did not see any similarity. These are ruins of stone buildings occupied in the past by miners. In fact it is interesting to walk (downhill on steep terrain) through the ruins and imagine what it was like in the past. The surrounding landscape is beautiful. There is a small part whose visitation is paid (R $ 5.00 per person), which seems to be more conserved and has some old utensils. I think it's worth a visit, but without much expectation; I went with great expectation to have heard that it was the Machu Picchu of Bahia and, in a way, I was happy to wait longer. It requires good physical conditioning. Those who are not very disposed, can walk only at the beginning that already gives to have an idea of what is. Further down the ruins are very similar.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Iguatu tem que ser visitado. É conhecer parte da história da mineração de diamantes no Brasil. As ruínas apesar de terem sido reconstituídas são muito bonitas. É uma caminhada tranquila. Em Iguatu têm pousadinhas aconchegantes. Logo na entrada, após a placa de Iguatu, à direita de quem chega, têm uma casinha de pedra onde você pode comprar artesanato local por um ótimo preço (são casinhas de pedra que são muito lindas). Não deixe de ir a Iguatu e fazer a caminhada nas ruínas qdo for â Chapada Diamantina.
Iguatu has to be visited. It is known of the history of diamond mining in Brazil. The ruins despite being reconstructed are very beautiful. It's a quiet walk. In Iguatu have cozy pousadinhas. Right at the entrance, after the Iguatu sign, to the right of whoever arrives, they have a stone house where you can buy local handicrafts for a great price (they are stone houses that are very beautiful). Be sure to go to Iguatu and do the walk in the ruins when phone is â Chapada Diamantina.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Calling this place a 'Machu Picchu' might look a bit over zealous, even pretentious but strange it is, it's a phantom village in which you can walk quite some time and try to understand how it was operating over 200 years ago. As one stays in Igatu village it is a must to visit I think.
