With BRT one can reach deeper into Zona Oeste (West Zone): Recreio, Jacarepaguá and other even farther neighborhoods.
With the subway, one can reach Zona Sul (South Zone): Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana, Botafogo an só on and also the central region and Zona Norte (North Zone).
Note that subway Line 4 is nowadays just an extension of Line 1.
