The worst experience I've had in a rich and interesting history of car rentals around the world. The staff in the office tried 8 different ways to get us to pay a 50% premium over the rate that we had confirmed (and we had documentation to back it up)... First it was for 'insurance' even though we had declined coverage, then it was for a 'return fee' even though that was already included, administrative fee, office fee, environmental fee, etc, etc. Each time they insisted on getting my credit card so that they could process payment. After 2 failed attempts it was just silly, they clearly had no idea what they were charging me for, they just really wanted more money. When I refused the customer service girl became irate, was completely unprofessional and started to insult us to her co-workers in Portuguese assuming we wouldn't understand. Eventually we got to the rate that we had agreed to and when the shuttle came to drive us back to the airport, she was wildly and sarcastically waving to us from the office. Really laughable service and this is the last time I'll rent from Unidas or their affiliate in the US, Alamo.

CAUTION FOREIGNERS : Do not rent a car there, as they will charge you twice. When we arrived there with our valid voucher (from Sunny Cars, a German broker they work with), they argued that the voucher was not valid and that the reservation was not pre-paid. We showed all possible proofs of payment (we had printed everything), their reaction: "our system says it is not pre-paid" and "sorry, your voucher is in English, we cannot read English". They recognized there was an error in the system but did not make anything to correct it. The main problem is that Unidas is an independent franchisee from Alamo, National and Enterprise, and if there is a problem between them and Alamo (as was the obvious issue, they pretended Alamo did not inform them the reservation was pre-paid), the client will be the victim and they will not move a finger. As we said they should call Alamo, their answer was: "we do not have contact with Alamo", which is obviously a blatant lie considering they are a franchisee of Alamo and therefore have daily contact with them. They basically told us we had to sort this out ourselves... The attendant, Mirele Santos, let us boil there two hours long, showing no willingness to find a solution. As we called Sunny Cars, she refused to talk to them. Her only proposal, which she gave with a smirk: sign a new contract, directly with them, at their conditions... This is what we ended up doing, ultimately paying twice for the same service. It is really clear that this company is doing everything it can to shortcut brokers such as Sunny Cars, refusing to deliver the service unless you sign a direct contract with them. Eventually, with us, they got what they wanted: twice the money for the same service. Ms Santos looked very satisfied after we signed another contract. It goes without saying that we are launching a legal proceeding against them and will flag this behaviour to all relevant authorities as well as their business partners.

Have had 2 cars in a week the first air conditioning wasn't working and now this one air conditioning is leaking water into the passenger and drivers floor area. The solution is for me to keep going and collecting another vehicle wasting my time. Should check their cars are working correctly before hiring to people clearly not happening. Could not recommend.
