★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had to come here for my Brazilian residency. The hours for the foreigners is from 8am-5pm M-F. Arrive early!!!! by 7am there's already a line for foreigners. There's a check list of all the things you need to start your residency process, you will most likely be asked a few more documents the first time you come here (just be aware). I'm getting my residency based on marriage. Since I've been here on tourist visa for 6 months I was asked to get a Police Back Ground check from Brasil with my CPF number, very easy to do and and it's all online. Also, your Police background check and Marriage certificates cannot be older than 90 days! The second time I came back here with all the documents in order I spent almost 3 hours waiting, but it wasn't that bad, so expect to be here for a bit that's why it's important to get here as early as possible. All documents that you give them make sure they are all readable. They will not take documents in poor conditions or print outs/copies that are blurry or have issues.(Common sense but there's people). Francisco knows what he is doing and is great help! All in all great service from everyone here (make sure to bring someone that speaks fluent Portuguese, it will make everything go by faster). Some people complain too much but if you are nice to the people helping you, have everything on the check list, are patient and know you might have to come here 2 times, then is all very easy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Always bring a book in case you have to wait awhile. Wear long pants and cover your shoulders - in Brazil this signals a level of formality that usually gets you nicer treatment in public facilities. The earlier in the morning you arrive, the better, and avoid going around any holidays (local, state, federal).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went there to process our visa registration with my family. Its very organized from the inside. The staff are very friendly from the lady who is asking for your time schedule, to the receptionist, until the registration process. I can say that the lady in the 2nd floor, in the encoding section, she is pretty with the long hair, she is very patient, she helped us and did not give up until things are sorted from our side, she did not even show any rudeness but showed us her patience. I think she was the one supervising the other staff but when its my turn and there are problems with my details, she was the one who sat on the chair and did everything from encoding the details, photo and finger prints. She was very kind. She was in number 14 with the other 2 women who are doing the encoding. So sad that we forgot to ask her name but before leaving, we are very happy and thankful and even wished us a safe travel.
Times like this, we are very thankful that there are staff who shows friendliness and kindness to other nationalities.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I attended your office on the 14th January. I was passed around to 5 different desks and nobody could give an answer regarding my residence application. The experience was horrible and everyone seemed to be unwilling to help.
Today I get a response regarding my application to attend a meeting at 10.40am tomorrow. They were informed this was too short of notice and asked if they had any other dates available (later this week or next week- something more than 24 hours notice). They said no availability. So not only is the online booking system broken, you expect the public to just stop doing everything for yourselves. A horrible service and I wish to speak to a senior member of staff about this further because I think as a service that is beyond woeful.
